AI Teachers? At Glorick, we’re taking a different path

In a world seemingly obsessed with automating everything, from emails to meetings, it was only a matter of time before "AI teachers" stepped onto the stage, promising 24/7 availability, reduced costs, and infinite patience (all of which is true, admittedly).
However, if a student wants a chatbot to practice a few phrases, the internet is full of them. That is why, after years of supporting professional teams across numerous companies, we at Glorick have made a conscious decision: we will continue to put our money on people.
AI cannot (and should not) replace human connection
Learning a language isn't just about processing data; it’s an act of courage and personal vulnerability. This is where AI falls short:
AI doesn't know you: a chatbot doesn’t know if you’ve had a difficult day or if you’re feeling frustrated. Our teachers are allies and mentors who adjust the pace not just to your level, but to your mood and energy.
The lack of cultural nuance:Â language is tied to culture and emotion. AI can translate words, but it cannot teach you the confidence needed to negotiate with an international client or understand the subtleties of a joke at the right moment.
Genuine commitment: it’s very easy to ignore an app notification. It’s much harder to let down your dedicated teacher, the person who motivates you, challenges you, and genuinely celebrates your progress.
More than just a teacher: an ally for those who believe in real talent
For an HR department, training isn’t just a tick-box exercise; it’s an investment in the company’s greatest asset: its people. At Glorick, we understand that businesses aren’t algorithms; they are teams of real people who need real solutions.
Real skills in a sea of "slop"
AI is flooding the internet with generic, hollow content, now commonly known as slop. Amidst this digital noise, soft skills —empathy, active listening, and intuition— have become the rarest and most valuable assets. We are more glued to our phones than ever, losing those small daily interactions that truly teach us how to communicate. In our lessons, the goal isn't just grammar; it’s about reclaiming the ability to connect with another human being on the other side of the screen (or the table).

If we dispense with the teacher, we will end up dispensing with the student.Â
AI is a powerful tool, but it remains just that: a tool. If we reduce learning to a cold interaction with a machine, we risk the employee becoming a passive user. Without human exchange, curiosity fades and engagement vanishes. For talent to grow, it needs to be seen, heard, and challenged by another human being.
Ultimately, at Glorick, we believe that in the age of automation, investing in human connection is the most strategic decision. Because when you look after the student with a real teacher, you are looking after the soul of your company.
