How to speak Spanish correctly

A while ago in a previous blog, we spoke about some of the best tips for learning a language, and, just as we’ve mentioned many times before, we’ve all got several tools available to us that allow us to learn better.

That’s why, at Glorick, we would like to explain, in today’s article, how to speak Spanish correctly.

5 tips for speaking Spanish correctly

Speaking is possibly one of the more complex aspects that many people have to face during the learning process of a language. In this stage you must get out of your comfort zone and put everything that you’ve learned into practice.

For all those people who find it difficult or feel insecure when speaking Spanish, we’re going to mention 5 tips for speaking and improving your oral Spanish level in the following article.

Master the vocabulary

Vocabulary, words and expressions that make up a language are possibly the most important aspects given that they determine the essence of a language. That’s why the first tip that we would like to mention in this article is to master the vocabulary correctly, given that it’s the only way you’ll have the confidence to speak Spanish, or any other language, well.

Furthermore, it’s very important to perfectly understand the vocabulary in order to avoid using inappropriate language, basically using a word which actually has a different meaning.

Pay attention to intonation

The learning process of a language is made up of many individual aspects that must be worked on to the same level. Among these aspects, one of the most important is intonation and that’s why we would like to highlight in this article the importance of intonation in order to speak Spanish correctly.

By learning correct intonation we make it easier for other people to understand us when we speak and it allows us to communicate our ideas more effectively. On many occasions, we emphasise the wrong syllable in a word, which makes it more difficult to understand us.

Work on pronunciation

Similarly to intonation, this is a very important aspect in oral language, it’s vital to work on pronunciation. If you’re already practising Spanish, you’ll have noticed that it’s not a difficult language to pronounce, unlike other languages such as French or English.

Despite this, and the fact that Spanish is read in the same way that it’s written, it’s important to highlight that some sounds might be more complicated than others. That’s why it's important to work on the pronunciation of those difficult sounds via repetition and practice.

Allow yourself to make mistakes

Finally, we would like to highlight the importance of allowing yourself to make mistakes. In order to gain confidence you must speak and put into practice everything that you’ve learned so that you’re not afraid of making grammatical mistakes, not using the right words and using the wrong tone.

By only speaking to native speakers you’ll be able to perfect all those things that are most difficult for you, that’s why, the biggest tip will always be to take advantage of every opportunity to put into practice everything that you know, given that only by conversing will you be able to learn and realise what you’re mistakes are.
